It's Another Vintage Blue Monday!

Happy blue Monday to everyone! This week has been very busy for me but I somehow managed to find a few blue items to share. My online boutique features a lot of vintage pink but I have a soft spot for blue so I usually have plenty of it as well. Here are some of my favorites that I have in stock right now! Who can resist colorful vintage hankies? I absolutely adore vintage hand embroidered linens and this set is wonderful! The handpainted porcelain round box is just the sweetest shade of light blue. Welcome to blue Monday! Thank you smiling Sally for hosting this fun event! I have a few blue items to share with you today.

My grandmother collected roseville pottery. While she was still living, she let family members choose the sets they liked best. Many years ago, I chose blue!!! I still love it. The first vase featuring pink and yellow foxgloves is my favorite! The zephyr lilly set sits in my basement where blue is a prominent color.

Friday Flea Market

Woo Hoo! I am participating in another Friday flea market and boy do I have some treasures today. I can not resist English bone china capodimonte with roses! I get goose bumps when I see a nice piece. These little treasures are really special. I even added one to an old light fixture to give it some pizzazzzz! After I posted this late last night (early this morning), my husband and I were awakened by a terrible crash. I had awoke several times earlier to noises but just wrote them off a "the cats playing". Once I even got up to take a look and only noticed that the cats were all acting spooky. What I failed to realize was that a raccoon had found its way into our home through a cat door in the garage. Normally, we shut the cat door going into the garage from the outside prior to dark. I thought we had done this but apparently, "Rocky" we shall call him, had already made his move to the garage for the cat food. He must has taken it upon himself to come on through the cat door from the garage to the house. He spent most of the night inside creating havok! The crash that we heard was my antique mirror (that I think originally came off of an old secretary) being pulled from the wall and hitting the floor full force! It broke into a dozen or more pieces but somehow the beveled mirror survived! I think Mr. fix it can refurbish it. As far as my favorite pottery birds that used to sit on the shelf, I think they are history. "Rocky" ran out the cat door as soon as he saw me. Has anyone else ever had trouble with raccoons? Here are a couple of pictures of the raccoon mischief. I am cursing those bandits!

Once again the Kansas weather has played a cruel trick on us! Yesterday I had the windows open and it was sunny and nearly 70 degrees. Today I awoke to below freezing, cloudy and grey! I also discovered that the wind last night had blown out the pilot light for the furnace. I am afraid of the gas furnace so I will just light a fire and wait for Mr. fix it to get home from work. The fire is usually lit for aesthetic purposes, today it is a necessity! I didn't even set off the smoke alarm.

Thank you Kathy from Kathys Red Door for being the first follower of my blog and your sweet comments! I love red doors and painted mine last year. I did it out of desperation. My door was just plain ugly and I could not afford to get a new one so I though I'd try some paint. Here is a picture of it!

I think they look pretty laying beside the bed with vintage reading glasses on them or in the living room on a coffee table with other old treasures! They are hard for me to resist. Spring Is Near?!

I have just a few moments today as I have been busy as a bee taking photos of my new treasures which I will be placing on my website! However, I had to take the time to share with everyone that it is nearly 70 degrees here today and I am just sure spring is right around the corner. My neighbor is out mowing his lawn! For those of you who don't know, I live in Kansas (somewhere over the rainbow). In Kansas, spring does not arrive until April! Right now, everything is brown. We can get snow through March!

It has been a mild winter and I am really looking forward to examining my flower beds to see what miracles may have survived. There are winters when my crape mrytles have died back all the way to the ground. Other years, I only have to trim a tiny bit off the top. I can't wait to see the first signs of spring...my daffodils!

My friend Shirley has the most gorgeous roses around her door in the spring. Here is a picture from last year. I'll be sure to show you this years once they bloom.

Happy Valentines Day! This is a really special day in my family as it is also my dear mothers birthday! Happy birthday mom! Thank you for all your unconditional love and inspiring me to LOVE vintage! My mom is a beautiful seamstress and also creates some beautiful projects using ribbon work! Here are just a few that she has made for me. It really is amazing to me what 73 year old arthritic hands can do! These will be heirlooms and I will cherish them forever! If you are ever in Wichita, Kansas you must stop by Attic Heirlooms and visit with Julie (the owner). She teaches fabulous classes on ribbon work using her own original designs! This is where my mom gets all of her projects. Julie is another talented lady!
